Don't Mock The Croc

By the time my Christopher Kane for Topshop items arrived today via the U.S. Postal Service, I was so excited that the current heat wave we're experiencing in southern California ceased to annoy me, and I immediately changed into the (sold out) croc tee and eyelet peep-toes in order to make it to my dinner reservation on time. Admittedly the outfit isn't creative, but in the interest of time and practicality, I just added sequin leggings to keep the silhouette somewhat simple and unfussy. The heels are 5.5" with a 1.5" platform, and are reasonably comfortable given their vertiginous design. I further tested their comfort after dinner by going to the fabric store for some shoulder pads, and then to my favorite yogurt shop for dessert. The verdict? Although I prefer footwear with a heel cup (to keep my foot in place), these heels are amazing, and combined with the croc tee, they make quite the statement.

Fresh From The Box

I pulled my Jeffrey Campbell Denmark boots out of the box when they arrived this evening with more anticipation than I've had in a while. The thick platform and sturdy heel make them comfortable, which is key for me when wearing 5" heels. I'm thinking these will be the first boots I grab when putting my outfits together for both day and night. Despite the fact that it's the middle of summer, the cool weather in my beach town feels more like early spring. (I'm not complaining; I'd rather have it be 68° outside than 86°.) Fortunately, that makes these boots every bit as appropriate for wearing right now as they will be in a few months.

On Wisteria Lane

Last month a small fire burned very close to where I live, and in order to be prepared for a potential evacuation, I decided to pack up a few things. Unfortunately, this isn't the first time I've been in this situation. Interestingly enough, some of the first things I grabbed to take with me were my beloved shoes. Footwear has always been my main weakness when it comes to fashion, and lately, this weakness has resulted in the purchase of the Topshop Wisteria wedges.

Somehow I missed the Wisteria wedges on Topshop's site the first time around. So when I saw that they'd restocked in the pinkish blush hue that I desired, I ordered them immediately. (They have also just been restocked in black for those who want them.) I'm still figuring out the various ways that they can be tied around the ankle, but in the meantime, I'm wearing them in a casual way with some cuffed skinny cargo pants by Union Bay.

It's Leopard Love

I rarely meet an animal print that I don't find myself drawn to. Leopard prints in particular are my ultimate weakness, especially when it comes to footwear. Having ogled many a blogger wearing the vertiginous Lita boots by Jeffrey Campbell, I knew I wanted to put them on my feet, however, they're offered in so many colorways that I found myself indecisive for weeks. I also hesitated to buy them online, since I wanted to confirm their comfort level before purchasing, and ensure that they weren't heavy or clunky like some of my clogs. After reading positive reviews about their comfort, I tried them on at LF, where they're available in new colors and prints (and named the "It boots) as part of a limited edition collaboration. Truth be told, I found their comfort level to be very high, even higher than I expected (Ashley, you were right). I attribute it to the roomy toe box, solid heel, and super high hidden platform. As I type this, I've had them on my feet for about five hours, at which point they're still comfortable, and I'm envisioning various ways to style them.
