Another Christmas star for your tree (+ pattern)

Not long to go anymore and we are setting up all our Christmas decorations. So we still have some time to crochet some nice stars for our tree. Here is another star which might look a bit more complicated but which is definitely as easy as the other one you can find on my blog.
I have used some gold yarn and as it felt rather weak to make a star out of it I have mixed it with some white crochet yarn.
Hope you'll like it!!

PATTERN:
chain 6 and form a ring finishing with a sl st in 1st ch
Row1: 2ch, 1dc in same ch, * 2dc in every ch*, repeat 5 times, finish with a sl st in 2nd ch
Row2: 1sc, *5ch and 1sc in 2nd dc* repeat 5 times, finish with a sl st in 1st sc
Row3: 1sc, * 3ch, 2dc in ch space, 4ch and sl st in 4th from hook, 1dc in ch space, 6ch and sl st in 6th from hook, 1dc in ch space, 4ch and sl st in 4th from hook, 1dc in ch space, 3ch and 1sc in between next 2dc *, repeat 5 times, 20ch and sl st in same sc and finish off.

Christmas ornament from your old T-shirt (+ pattern)

In my previous blog post you will find how to turn your old T-shirts into yarn. As this yarn is more chunky, it is great for floor carpets etc. but why not use it for some Christmas decoration?!
You can make a flat Christmas ball, you can add some thin red ribbon and you are set in no time for your tree decoration in a few weeks time.

PATTERN:
chain 5 on hook size 6 and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch
Row1: ch 1, *2sc in every ch* finish with 1 sl st in first ch
Row2: ch1, *2sc in every sc* finish with 1 sl st in first ch
In most cases this might be enough, but in case of my brown yarn, the cotton fabric used was a lot thinner, so for this one I added a 3rd row.

Row3: ch1, *2sc in next sc and 1sc in following sc* finish with 1 sl st in first ch

ch = chain
sl st = slip stitch
sc = single crochet

Christmas decoration (+ pattern)

Only 6 weeks to go till Christmas, so you better hurry up if you want to make some Christmas decorations for your tree.
Making them yourself makes this whole period more fulfilling. It will create the Christmas atmosphere in the house, weeks in advance. With this easy pattern it will be ready in no time.
The yarn used is explained in 'Fancy up your yarn!' (cotton with sewing thread)
I have also tried the same pattern with a normal acrylic yarn (the grey ones ) but as it is not heavy enough it won't hang so nice in the tree.
Have fun!

PATTERN
Ch 5 on hook size 3 mm  and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch.
Row 1: ch 1, 11 sc in ch-ring, finish with 1 sl st in first ch.
Row 2: ch 2, * 1 dc in next sc, ch 6, 1 dc in next sc *, repeat 5 times, 1 dc in next sc, ch 6, finish with 1 sl st in 2nd ch from beg of round = 6 ch spaces.
Row 3: ch 1, * 1 sc between the next 2 dc, 4 sc in ch space, ch 3, 1 sc in 3rd ch from hook, 4 sc in ch space *, repeat from *-* a total of 5 times, 1 sc between the next 2 dc, 4 sc in ch space, ch 20, 4 sc in ch space, finish with 1 sl st in ch from beg of round.
Fasten off.

Stitches used:
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
